Instructions for covering the gate with a multi-purpose 1-layer wood-plastic bar and copper nail gun
When constructing a gate panel with copper nails, there are 1 main cases of 2-layer wood-plastic multi-purpose bar, including:
- Horizontal gate cover, vertical bar installation
- Vertical gate cover, horizontal bar installation
The 1-layer multi-purpose wood-plastic bar weighs 3kg/bar - 5,3kg/bar (±5%), so when covering the gate, it needs to be reinforced on a sturdy frame system with a distance between the bars. ≤25cm to ensure user safety.
In addition, the construction area must meet Width ≤6m and height ≤3mIf the area is larger, please switch to using 2-layer ASA-coated wood plastic panels. (OP113X16, OP140X12, 4S184X28, 5S169X14, 8S169X14) – This is a lightweight material used for wall cladding, ceiling cladding, and gate cladding with large areas.
Below is the weight table of 2 multi-purpose wood-plastic panel codes at Kosmos Vietnam:
| Product code | Dimensions (mm) | Weight |
| OP71 | 71 x 11 x 3000mm | 3kg/bar (±5%) |
| OP142 | 142 x 10 x 3000mm | 5,3kg/bar (±5%) |

Step 1: Prepare materials and tools for constructing the gate with a multi-purpose 1-layer wood-plastic bar and copper nail gun
Supplies
Below are 10 types of materials you need to prepare:
- Skeleton bars (stainless steel, galvanized steel) size ≥25x25mm and thickness ≥12mm
- Iron bar
- 1-layer wood plastic multi-purpose bar (OP142, OP71)
- Wooden bars (wood used for outdoor use) are the same size as bone bars.
- Plate, L plate, L-shaped iron bracket
- Fish tail stainless steel screw
- Iron anchor
- Swing hinge, gate handle
- Copper nail
- Kosmos multipurpose glue.

Tool
Here are 7 necessary tools for the process of installing gate cladding with 1-layer multi-purpose wood-plastic panels:
- Angle grinder, drill, welder
- Tape measure, angle ruler
- Laser machine, nail gun.

Step 2: Install the gate border
Use 1cm thick iron bars and 4,5cm wide (OP142) or 4,7cm (OP71) (for 25x25mm 1,2mm thick frame bars). Use a welding machine to join the iron bars according to the size of the gate border.
Width of iron bar = size of bone bar + 2x11mm (thickness OP71)
Width of iron bar = size of bone bar + 2x10mm (thickness OP142)

Step 3: Install the gate frame
The gate frame installation process includes 2 stages:
Step 1: Weld stainless steel or galvanized steel bars to the center of the iron bar (gate border), distance between bars ≤25cm. All welds must be smoothed and painted with anti-rust paint.
Horizontal cladding: Bars ≤25cm vertically.
Vertical cladding: Bars ≤25cm horizontally.

Step 2: Paint black and fix wooden bars (wood types used for outdoor use) the same size as the stainless steel bars to the frame above with stainless steel screws.

Kosmos recommends:
- Material for making bone bars: Stainless steel or galvanized steel with size ≥ 25x25mm and thickness ≥ 1.2mm.
- All welds should be smoothed and painted with anti-rust paint.
- Wooden bars fixed with crossbars are types of wood used for outdoor use, weather resistant and the same size as the crossbars.
Step 4: Build the skeleton into the gate
Before erecting the skeleton into the gate, it is necessary to install the pivot hinges into the bottom and top of the gate post.
Bottom of gate pillar
Fix the gusset plate to the floor with iron anchors and weld the swivel hinge to the gusset plate.
Top of gate post
Fix the L-shaped bracket on the gate pillar with iron plugs, continue to weld the L-shaped bracket to the bracket. Finally weld the swivel hinge to the bracket.

After completing the 2 upper and lower hinges. Continue, weld the skeleton into the position of the 2 hinges as shown below. The gate frame needs to leave a distance of 2-3cm from the column.

Step 5: Install the 1-layer wood-plastic multi-purpose bar onto the gate frame (front of the gate)
5 steps to install multi-purpose wood plastic panels on the frame:
1. Apply Kosmos multi-purpose glue to the frame and the wooden bar fixed on the frame.
2. Install the first multi-function bar
For horizontal cladding: Install the multi-purpose panel facing the ground horizontally (install the panel from bottom to top).
For vertical cladding: Install the multi-purpose panel vertically against the wall, from the inside out.
3. Use a nail gun with copper nails to shoot into the multi-purpose bar to fix it to the frame at the position of the wooden bars.
4. Repeat steps 1, 2, 3 until all the wood-plastic multi-purpose bars are installed on the frame (The gap between the multi-purpose bars is chosen by the construction worker).
5. Install the handle on the gate, depending on the type of handle, choose the appropriate construction method.
Note when shooting copper nails into the panel:
- Fix the multi-purpose panel to the wooden bar
- Shoot into the groove of the panel or shoot into the wood grain to ensure aesthetics.
Step 6: Install the 1-layer wood-plastic multi-purpose bar onto the gate frame (back of the gate)
On the back, do the same steps as step 5.
Horizontal gate cover

Vertical gate cover

Note: The gate is an area that is frequently exposed to sunlight. Kosmos recommends using the striped side of the multi-purpose bar exposed to the outside of the gate instead of using the wood grain side.
Kosmos recommends the gate size when constructing multi-purpose wood plastic panels:
The gate size when constructing multi-purpose wood plastic panels requires a width of ≤6m and a height of ≤3m. If your area is larger than the recommended size, please switch to using 2-layer wood plastic panels coated with ASA (OP113X16, OP140X12, 4S184X28, 5S169X14, 8S169X14). ASA panels are lightweight materials, a solution for wall cladding, ceiling cladding, and large-area gate cladding.

Multi-purpose wood plastic bar in addition to gate cladding with copper nail gun can also be used Construction of decorative screw gate cladding.
In addition to gate panels with 360-degree rotating hinges, customers can also make sliding gates or folding gates. The process of installing a 1-layer wood-plastic multi-purpose bar is the same, only the frame system is different when installed on the gate.
Note: Instructions are for reference only. To have the most suitable construction plan, it is necessary to survey the specific project and come up with an optimal construction solution.
