Instructions for installing ceiling panels under poly, glass, and corrugated iron roofs for flat ASA wood plastic OP113X16 and OP140X12

ASA coated 2-layer wood plastic panel with flat profile (OP113X16, OP140X12) When constructing ceiling cladding under poly, glass, and corrugated iron roofs, there will be 2 main cases including:

  1. Vertical ceiling panel, horizontal bar installation
  2. Horizontal ceiling panel, vertical frame installation.

ASA wood plastic panel weighs 1,8kg/bar - 1,89kg/bar, when constructing, it needs to be installed on a skeleton system and the distance between the skeleton bars is ≤35cm. The ASA wood plastic ceiling skeleton system is made from stainless steel or galvanized steel bars with dimensions ≥25x25mm, thickness ≥1.2mm.

Tool

8 tools needed to install flat ASA wood plastic panels for ceiling under poly, glass, and corrugated iron roofs include:

  1. Angle cutter, drill, welding machine, laser machine
  2. Tape measure, angle ruler
  3. Folding ladder
  4. Nail gun.

Step 2: Construct additional frame system to install under poly, glass, and corrugated iron roofs.

Construct a new frame layer (stainless steel or galvanized steel, each bar has the following dimensions) ≥25x25mm, thickness ≥1.2mm). At the connection point of 2 panels, 2 double ribs with a distance of 5mm are needed.

Vertical ceiling panels

Using a welding machine, weld the ribs firmly with the distance between the ribs. ≤35cm horizontally, the weld needs to be smoothed and painted with anti-rust paint.

Horizontal ceiling tiles

Using a welding machine, weld the ribs firmly with the distance between the ribs. ≤35cm vertically, the weld needs to be smoothed and painted with anti-rust paint.

Step 3: Install insulation

After having a new skeleton system, install a layer of insulation material (silver foam 5mm thick or more, heat-insulating corrugated iron or plastic foam) on top of this skeleton and fix it with glue or stainless steel screws.

Step 4: Weld the frame and insulation material onto the glass, corrugated iron, and poly roof.

Weld the new frame and insulation material to the roof frame of corrugated iron, glass, and poly. The welds need to be smoothed and painted with anti-rust paint. The distance between the wooden plastic ceiling frame and the glass, corrugated iron, or poly roof is required to be 300 – 500mm and the frame should have a slight outward slope of 2 – 3%.

ASA-coated 2-layer wood plastic panels have an expansion rate of 0,1%, so the distance between the frame and the wall (if any) is 7 - 10mm, this is a safe distance for the frame and ASA-coated wood plastic panels to expand.

Step 5: Install 2-layer ASA-coated wood plastic panels onto the frame

ASA flat profile wood panels at Kosmos Vietnam have 2 codes: OP140X12 (thick and long hem) , and OP113X16 (short hem)These two codes require different construction methods when cladding onto the frame.

A. Install OP140X12 panel on the frame

6 steps to install 2-layer ASA-coated wood plastic panels OP140X12 ceiling tiles on the skeleton:

5.1.A. Apply Kosmos exterior glue to the crossbar before installing the panel.

5.2.A. Install the first wood plastic panel groove Close to the wall, the groove facing outwards, the panel and the frame need to leave a gap of 7 - 10mm with the wall (For vertical paneling, install the panel from left to right or from right to left depending on the contractor. For horizontal paneling, install the panel from inside to outside).

5.3.A. Drill pilot holes and shoot fishtail stainless steel screws into the recess to fix the panel on the frame. (the distance between screw holes is equal to the distance between the cross bars) ≤35cm).

5.4.A. Apply glue to the frame to install the second panel.

5.5.A. Install the male groove of the second panel into the screwed negative groove of the first panel., proceed to drill the pilot and shoot the fish tail stainless steel screws to Fix the second panel to the rib at the negative groove.

5.6.A. Repeat the above steps for each panel until the ceiling is full..

Note: The open area between the glass, corrugated iron, poly roof and the wood plastic ceiling will use 2-layer ASA-coated wood plastic panels and constructed similarly.

Kosmos recommends

At the joint position, the panels need to be placed on double ribs, the distance between 2 double ribs is 5mm and the distance between 2 ends of the ASA-coated 2-layer wood-plastic panel is 5mm.

B. Install ASA OP2X113 16-layer wood plastic panel onto the frame

6 steps to install ASA OP2X113 16-layer wood plastic panel ceiling tiles on the skeleton:

5.1.B. Apply Kosmos exterior glue into the crossbar before installing the OP113X16 panel

5.2.B. Install the first wood plastic panel groove Close to the wall, the groove facing outwards, the panel and the frame need to leave a gap of 7 - 10mm with the wall (For vertical paneling, install the panel from left to right or from right to left depending on the contractor. For horizontal paneling, install the panel from inside to outside)

5.3.B. Attach specialized brackets to the recessed groove, fixed to the frame with stainless steel screws (distance between screw holes equal to distance between frames) ≤35cm).

5.4.B. Apply glue to the frame to install the second panel

5.5.B. Install the male groove of the second panel into the screwed negative groove of the first panel. Attach the bracket to the negative groove of the second panel and fixed with stainless steel screws right at the bracket.

5.6.B. Repeat the same steps above for each panel until the end of the ceiling..

Note: The open area between the glass, corrugated iron, poly roof and the wood plastic ceiling will use 2-layer ASA-coated wood plastic panels and constructed similarly.

At the joint position, the panels need to be placed on double ribs, the distance between 2 double ribs is 5mm and the distance between 2 ends of the ASA-coated 2-layer wood-plastic panel is 5mm.

Step 6: Cover the edges of the panel with wood-plastic V-shaped strips and you're done.

Cover exposed end panel edges with wood plastic V-shaped strips (V35X45). Please note that at the right angle, the V-shaped strip needs to be cut at a 45° angle.

There are 2 ways to fix the wood plastic V-shaped strip onto the panel and the frame.

Option 1: Use Kosmos exterior glue and stainless steel screws to secure the V-shaped strip to cover the end edges of the ASA-coated 2-layer wood plastic panel. vertical/horizontal, screw hole spacing ≤350mm (≤35cm).

Note: Need to drill pilot holes before screwing into wood plastic V-shaped strips.

Use glue and stainless steel screws to fix the V-shaped strip to cover the gap of the end panels for the vertical wood-plastic ceiling.
Use glue and stainless steel screws to fix the V-shaped strip to cover the gap of the end panels for the vertical wood-plastic ceiling.
Use glue and stainless steel screws to fix the V-shaped strip to cover the gap between the end panels for the horizontal wood-plastic ceiling.

To ensure the wood plastic ceiling is durable and beautiful, rainwater does not accumulate inside and cause mold, you need to install a "water pipe" to ensure the durability of the ceiling.

A water line is a line that is usually raised with mortar on balconies and loggias. A water cut-off strip/water hook can be used instead. This detail prevents rainwater from flowing back into the ceiling.
