Instructions for covering the gate with 1-layer wood plastic panel OP148
When constructing gate cladding, there are 148 main cases including:
- Vertical gate cover, horizontal bar installation
- Horizontal gate cover, vertical crossbar installation.
OP148 weighs 3,5kg/bar – 5,2kg/bar (±5%). When constructing the gate cladding, it needs to be reinforced on a sturdy frame system with the distance between the bars ≤25cm. Gate area must be ensured Width ≤6m and height ≤3m.
If the gate area is larger, please switch to using 2-layer ASA-coated wood plastic panels. (OP113X16, OP140X12, 4S184X28, 5S169X14, 8S169X14). ASA panels are lightweight materials used for wall cladding, ceiling cladding, and gate cladding with large areas..
Kosmos recommends: The gate is an area that is often exposed to direct sunlight. Customers should use smooth, 3D wood grain panels instead of 2D printed panels.
Below is the weight table of 3 OP148 wood-plastic panel codes with smooth grain and 3D wood grain at Kosmos Vietnam:
| Product code | Dimensions (mm) | Weight |
| 3DOP148 (Kosmos) | 148 x 21 x 3000mm | 5kg/bar (±5%) |
| G3DOP148 (Galawood) | 148 x 21 x 3000mm | 5,2kg/bar (±5%) |
| GOP148 (Galawood) | 148 x 21 x 3000mm | 5kg/bar (±5%) |

Step 1: Prepare materials and tools for constructing gate cladding with 1-layer OP148 plastic wood
Supplies
Below are 10 types of materials you need to prepare when constructing a flat-shaped 1-layer wood-plastic gate cladding OP148:
- Skeleton bar (stainless steel or galvanized steel bar) size ≥25x25mm and thickness ≥1.2mm
- Iron bar
- Flat profile 1-layer wood plastic panel (3DOP148, GOP148, G3DOP148)
- Wooden bar with the same size as the bone bar
- L-shaped iron plate and bracket
- Fish tail stainless steel screw
- Iron anchor
- Swing hinge, gate handle
- Copper nail
- Kosmos exterior glue.

Tool
Here are 7 necessary tools for the construction process of 1-layer wood-plastic gate cladding OP148:
- Angle cutter, drill, welding machine
- Laser machine, tape measure, protractor, nail gun.

Step 2: Install the gate border
Use 1cm thick iron bars and 6,7cm wide (for 25x25mm 1.2mm thick frame). Use a welding machine to connect the iron bars according to the size of the gate border.
Width of iron bar = size of bone bar + 2x21mm (thickness OP148)

Step 3: Install the gate frame
The gate frame installation process includes 3 stages:
1. Weld stainless steel or galvanized steel bars to the center of the iron bar, distance between bars ≤25cm.
Horizontal: Bone bars ≤25cm longitudinally
Vertical: The bone bars are ≤25cm horizontally.
2. Right at the installation position of the last panel, weld an additional frame about 1mm from the gate edge to fix the teak wood bar (or other types of wood used for outdoor use) with the same size as the frame bar (size ≥26x25mm).
3. Fix the 25mm thick wooden shelf (same size as the frame) to the frame just installed above by using stainless steel screws. Fixing this wooden shelf has a special purpose: when constructing the final panel, instead of having to screw directly onto the surface of the panel (this will cause loss of aesthetics due to exposed screws), we will fix the panel to the wooden shelf with copper nails.
Kosmos recommends:
- Material for making bone bars: Stainless steel or galvanized steel with size ≥ 25x25mm and thickness ≥ 1.2mm.
- All welds should be smoothed and painted with anti-rust paint.
Step 4: Build the skeleton into the gate
Before erecting the skeleton into the gate, it is necessary to install the pivot hinges into the bottom and top of the gate post.
Bottom of gate pillar
Fix the gusset plate to the floor with iron anchors and weld the swivel hinge to the gusset plate.
Top of gate post
Fix the L-shaped bracket on the gate pillar with iron plugs, continue to weld the L-shaped bracket to the bracket. Finally weld the swivel hinge to the bracket.

After completing the 2 upper and lower hinges. Continue, weld the skeleton into the position of the 2 hinges as shown below. The gate frame needs to leave a distance of 2-3cm from the column.
Note: All welds should be smoothed and painted with anti-rust paint.
Step 5: Install the wood plastic panel on the gate frame (Front of the gate)
8 steps to cover the gate with OP148 panels on the frame:
1. Apply Kosmos exterior glue to the crossbar.
2. Install the first panel
Horizontal: Install the OP148 male groove facing the ground horizontally, the female groove facing up (install the panel from bottom to top).

Vertical: Install the wood plastic panel's positive groove against the wall vertically, with the negative groove facing outward (install from right to left or from left to right depending on the construction unit).

3. Drill and screw stainless steel fish tail into the negative groove to fix the panel on the rib (The distance between the screw holes is equal to the distance between the ribs ≤25cm).
4. Continue applying Kosmos exterior glue to the frame to install the second panel.
5. Install the male groove of the second panel into the screwed negative groove of the first panel and fix the second panel onto the rib at the negative groove (the distance between the screw holes is equal to the distance between the ribs ≤2cm).
6. Repeat the same steps above for each panel until almost the entire gate.
7. Measure and cut the last panel to fit the frame. Use a nail gun to shoot copper nails to fix the panel to the wooden frame with the distance between the nail holes ≤10cm.

8. Install the handle on the gate, depending on the type of handle, choose the appropriate construction method.
** Kosmos recommends:
- It is necessary to drill a pilot hole before screwing into the recess of the wood plastic panel.
- The gate is an area that is often exposed to direct sunlight. Customers should use smooth, 3D wood grain panels instead of 2D printed panels.
Step 6: Install the wood plastic panel on the gate frame (Back of the gate)
On the back, just repeat the same 8 steps of step 5.

Kosmos recommends gate size when constructing 1-layer wood plastic panel OP148
The gate size when constructing 1-layer wood plastic panel OP148 requires a width of ≤6m and a height of ≤3m. If your area is larger than the recommended size, please switch to using 2-layer wood plastic panels coated with ASA (OP113X16, OP140X12, 4S184X28, 5S169X14, 8S169X14). ASA panels are lightweight materials, specialized solutions for wall cladding, ceiling cladding, and large-area gate cladding.
OP1 148-layer wood plastic panel can be used not only for gate cladding but also for construction horizontal and vertical wall mounting , and Ceiling panels for balconies and porches.
In addition to gate panels with 360-degree rotating hinges, customers can also make sliding gates or folding gates. The process of installing 1-layer wood-plastic panels OP148 is the same, only the frame system is different when installed on the gate.
Note: Instructions are for reference only. To have the most suitable construction plan, it is necessary to survey the specific project and come up with an optimal construction solution.
