Instructions for installing 1-layer flat-shaped wood-plastic wall cladding OP148

OP1 flat profile 148-layer wood plastic panel when used for wall cladding has 2 main cases including:

  1. Horizontal wall cladding, vertical bar installation
  2. Vertical wall cladding, horizontal bar installation.

Because the OP1 flat profile 148-layer wood plastic panel is quite heavy (3,5kg/bar - 5,2kg/bar ±5%), it needs to be reinforced on a sturdy frame system with a distance between the bars. ≤25cm to ensure user safety.

In addition, the construction area must ensure the height. Width ≤6m and height ≤3mIf the area is larger, please switch to using 2-layer ASA-coated wood-plastic panels (OP113X16, OP140X12) - This is a lightweight material specialized in wall, ceiling, and partition cladding with large areas.

Below is the weight table of 4 OP148 wood plastic panel codes at Kosmos Vietnam

Step 2: Create a joint between the wall and the frame using iron anchors

The process of creating a joint between the wall and the frame using iron anchors includes 3 steps:

  1. Using a drill, drill into the wall of the house.
  2. Insert iron plugs into drilled holes
  3. Tighten the anchor bolts until the connections are secure and strong.
1.1. Horizontal wall cladding

When using a drill, drilling into the wall requires a distance between the holes. ≤25cm vertically and ≤50cm horizontally.

At the locations where the double crossbars are installed, holes need to be drilled at intervals. 5mm vertically and ≤50cm horizontally.

1.2. Vertical wall cladding

When using a drill, drilling into the wall requires a distance between the holes. ≤25cm horizontally and ≤50cm vertically.

At the locations where the double crossbars are installed, holes need to be drilled at intervals. 5mm horizontally and ≤50cm vertically.

4 common types of iron anchors: 6mm, 8mm, 10mm and 12mm, corresponding to 4 types of drill bits: 6mm, 8mm, 10mm and 12mm.

Step 3: Build the skeleton

1.1. Horizontal wall cladding

Using a welding machine, weld the bone bar firmly according to vertical into the iron plugs already on the wall, the distance between the bars ≤250mm (≤25cm) vertically.

1.2. Vertical wall cladding

Use welding machine to fix the bone bar according to Horizontal into the iron plugs already on the wall, the distance between the bars ≤250mm (≤25cm) horizontally.

** Kosmos recommends:

  1. Frame material: Stainless steel bar or galvanized steel bar with size ≥25x25mm, thickness ≥1.2mm or wood-plastic beam with size ≥25mm solid beam, ≥30mm hollow beam
  2. The frame needs to leave a gap of 7 - 10mm from the wall to install the wood-plastic V-shaped strip. This is also a safe distance for the frame and OP148 panel to expand.
  3. At the position where the 2 panels are joined, a double rib bar needs to be installed. The distance between the 2 double rib bars is 5mm.

Kosmos recommends: Single-layer wood plastic panels are quite heavy, 1kg/bar - 3,5kg/bar (about 5,2 - 11,26kg/m²), so it is recommended to install them on brick or concrete walls through a frame and not to install the panels directly on the wall.

Step 4: Install the OP1 single-layer wood plastic panel onto the frame

5 steps to install wood plastic panel OP148 horizontal on the skeleton:

  1. Apply specialized glue to the crossbar before installing the panel.
  2. Install the first wood plastic panel's male groove facing the ground horizontally, the negative groove facing up (install the panel from bottom to top)
  3. Drilling and screwing stainless steel fish tail into the groove to fix the panel on the frame (the distance between the screw holes is equal to the distance between the frame bars). ≤250mm)
  4. Install the male groove of the second panel into the screwed negative groove of the first panel and fix the second panel onto the crossbar at the negative groove.
  5. Repeat the same steps above for each panel until the end of the wall.
5: Repeat the same steps above for each panel until the end of the wall.
5: Repeat the same steps above for each panel until the end of the wall.

At the joint position, the panels need to be placed on double ribs, the distance between 2 double ribs is 5mm and the distance between 2 joints of 1-layer OP148 wood-plastic panel is 5mm.

5 steps to install wood plastic panel OP148 vertical mounting on the skeleton:

  1. Apply Kosmos exterior glue to the crossbar before installing the panel.
  2. Install the first wood-plastic panel's positive groove against the wall vertically, with the negative groove facing outward (install the panel from left to right or from right to left depending on the installer).

** Kosmos recommends

  1. It is necessary to drill a pilot hole before screwing into the recess of the wood plastic panel.
  2. At the position where the panels need to be joined, the joint must be placed on the rib. If the rib is not large enough to fix both ends at the same time, it is necessary to install 2 ribs, each rib is 2mm apart, and the 5 panels connected together are also 2mm apart.

Note: In case the installation area receives direct and frequent sunlight, Kosmos recommends using smooth grain panels or 3D wood grain instead of 2D printed grain.

Step 5: Cover the edges of the panel with wood-plastic V-shaped strips and you're done.

Cover the exposed edges of the wall panel with wood-plastic V-shaped strips (V60X60, V40X60, GV40X60). Please note that at right angles, the V-shaped strips need to be cut at a 45-degree angle.

There are 2 ways to fix the wood plastic V-shaped strip onto the panel and the frame.

Option 1: Use glue and umbrella head stainless steel screws fish tail, screw holes ≤350mm (≤35cm).

1.1. Horizontal wall cladding

1.2. Vertical wall cladding

Option 2: Use glue and nail gun with copper nails, nail holes ≤100mm (≤10cm).

2.1. Horizontal wall cladding

2.2. Vertical wall cladding

Kosmos recommends wall size for construction of 1-layer wood plastic panel OP148

The wall size when constructing 1-layer wood plastic panel OP148 requires a width of ≤6m and a height of ≤3m. If your area is larger than the recommended size, please switch to using 2-layer wood plastic panel ASA coated (OP113X16, OP140X12). ASA panel is a lightweight material, specializing in solutions for large-area wall and ceiling cladding.

In addition to horizontal and vertical wall mounting, OP1 148-layer wood plastic panel can also be installed OP148 ceiling panels for balconies and porches.
