Instructions for installing gate cladding using single-layer fluted wood-plastic panels.

When installing single-layer fluted wood-plastic composite panels for gates, there are two main installation scenarios:

  1. Vertical gate cover, horizontal bar installation.
  2. Horizontal gate cover, vertical crossbar installation.
Vertical panel with horizontal bar, horizontal panel with vertical bar

Because single-layer fluted wood-plastic panels are quite heavy (7kg/panel – 9,7kg/panel ±5%), they need to be securely reinforced on a frame structure with appropriate spacing between the support beams. ≤25cm to ensure user safety.

Kosmos recommends that single-layer fluted wood-plastic panels be used only for wall cladding, partition cladding, gate cladding, and No ceiling paneling work will be done.Additionally, the construction area must ensure a width of ≤6m and a height of ≤3m (if the area is larger, switch to using 2-layer ASA-coated fluted wood-plastic panels). 4S184X28, 5S169X14, 8S169X14, 3ST195X30).

Step 1: Prepare materials and tools for installing the gate cladding using single-layer fluted wood-plastic panels.

Supplies

Below are 10 types of materials you need to prepare when installing a single-layer fluted wood-plastic panel gate cladding:

  1. Skeleton bar (stainless steel or galvanized steel bar) size ≥25x25mm and thickness ≥1,2mm
  2. Iron bar
  3. Single-layer wood-plastic composite slatsG4S219, K4S219).
  4. L-shaped bracket, metal plate.
  5. Stainless steel flat-tail (fish-tail) screws.
  6. Iron anchor.
  7. Swivel hinges, gate handles.
  8. Copper nails.
  9. Kosmos exterior glue.

Tool

Here are 7 essential tools for installing single-layer fluted wood-plastic composite gate cladding:

  1. Angle grinder, drill, welding machine.
  2. Laser machine, tape measure, protractor, nail gun.

Step 2: Install the gate border

Use 1cm thick and 8,1cm wide iron bars (for a 25 x 25mm, 1,2mm thick support frame). Use a welding machine to connect the iron bars according to the dimensions of the gate border.

Width of the steel plate = size of the support beam + 2 x 28 (thickness of the fluted panel 4S219)

Step 3: Install the gate frame

Weld stainless steel or galvanized steel bars to the center of the iron bar, distance between bars ≤25cm.

  • Horizontal: Bone bars ≤25cm longitudinally
  • Vertical: The bone bars are ≤25cm horizontally.

Kosmos recommends:

  1. Material for the support bars: Stainless steel or galvanized steel with dimensions ≥ 25 x 25mm and thickness ≥ 1.2mm.
  2. All welds should be smoothed and painted with anti-rust paint.

Step 4: Build the skeleton into the gate

Before erecting the skeleton into the gate, it is necessary to install the pivot hinges into the bottom and top of the gate post.

Bottom of gate pillar

Fix the gusset plate to the floor with iron anchors and weld the swivel hinge to the gusset plate.

Top of gate post

  1. Secure the L-shaped bracket to the gate post using metal anchors.
  2. Continue welding the L-shaped bracket to the base plate.
  3. Finally weld the swivel hinge to the gusset plate.

After installing the two upper and lower swivel hinges, weld the frame to the hinge positions as shown in the image below. Leave a gap of 2-3 cm between the gate frame and the posts.

Step 5: Install the single-layer fluted wood-plastic composite panel onto the gate frame (front of the gate).

10 steps to install single-layer fluted wood-plastic composite panels onto the gate frame:

  1. Apply Kosmos exterior adhesive to the frame.

  1. Install the first panel:
  1. Horizontal: Install the single-layer fluted wood-plastic composite panel with the male tongue facing the ground horizontally and the female tongue facing upwards (install the panels from bottom to top).
Install the first panel with the male groove facing down and the female groove facing up.

  1. Vertical: Install the fluted wood-plastic composite panel with the tongue and groove facing the wall vertically, with the tongue and groove facing outwards (installation can be from right to left or left to right depending on the contractor).
Install the first fluted wood-plastic panel with the male tongue facing the column and the female tongue facing outwards.
Install the first fluted wood-plastic panel with the male tongue facing the column and the female tongue facing outwards.
  1. Drilling and screwing stainless steel tail pee Insert the screws into the grooves to secure the panel to the support beams and into the fluted panel grooves as illustrated below (the distance between the screw holes should match the distance between the support beams). ≤25cm).

Note: Only the first fluted panel has stainless steel screws inserted into the fluted panel groove. Subsequent panels are only screwed into the groove of the fluted panel.

  1. Continue applying Kosmos exterior adhesive to the frame to install the second cladding panel.
  1. Attach the male groove of the second panel to the female groove of the first panel, which has already been screwed in.
  1. Secure the second panel to the support beam at the tongue and groove (the distance between the screw holes should be equal to the distance between the support beams ≤25cm).
  1. Repeat steps 4, 5, and 6 for each panel until almost the entire gate is covered.
  1. Measure and cut the final panel to fit the frame.
  1. Attach the male groove of the last fluted wood-plastic panel to the female groove of the previous panel, which has already been screwed in. Drill pilot holes and screw the final wave of the fluted panel to the frame.
  1. Install the gate handle; the appropriate installation method will depend on the type of handle..

** Kosmos recommends: Pre-drilling is required before screwing the screws into the tongue and groove of the single-layer fluted wood-plastic panel.

Step 6: Install the single-layer fluted wood-plastic composite panel onto the gate frame (the back of the gate).

On the back, just repeat the same 10 steps of step 5.

Kosmos recommends the following dimensions for gates constructed using single-layer fluted wood-plastic panels:

For single-layer fluted wood-plastic composite gate construction, the required dimensions are a width of ≤6m and a height of ≤3m. If your area is larger than the recommended dimensions, please switch to using double-layer fluted wood-plastic composite panels with ASA coating (4S184X28, 5S169X14, 8S169X14).

Single-layer fluted wood-plastic composite panels can also be used for cladding gates. Installation of decorative wall cladding.

Besides gate cladding with 360-degree swivel hinges, customers can also opt for sliding gates or folding gates. The installation process for single-layer fluted wood-plastic panels is the same; the only difference is the frame structure when installed onto the gate.

Note: Instructions are for reference only. To have the most suitable construction plan, it is necessary to survey the specific project and come up with an optimal construction solution.
