Instructions for installing tilted sunshade louvers using 2-layer polymer-coated wood-plastic louvers
Polymer-coated 2-layer wood plastic slats (2-layer wood plastic slats) are used to make sunshade slats, pergola flower trellises, signs, and facades, with a lifespan of 15-20 years. Kosmos commits to a 3-year quality warranty.
When constructing inclined sunshade louvers, you need to pay attention to the following 6 things:
- Thread the stainless steel bar or galvanized steel bar into the slat.
- Lam box construction on the frame with distance between bars ≤100cm (≤1m).
- The slats are connected to the crossbars through L-shaped iron brackets by stainless steel screws.
- The box must be pre-drilled before fixing through the skeleton.
- Slats 10mm from wall and corner.
- When it is necessary to connect the slats, The distance between 2 connecting bars is from 3 - 5mm..

Step 1: Prepare materials and tools for constructing sunshade trellis with Polymer box slats
Supplies
Below are 7 types of materials you need to prepare:
- Stainless steel or galvanized steel bar
- 2-layer polymer coated wood plastic slats (LAM60X42, LAM100X50)
- Bar end cap (NL60X42, NL100X50)
- Iron plate L
- Stainless steel screw with pee tail
- Code
- Iron anchor.

Note on how to use iron bracket L:
L-shaped iron plate has size 50x30mm, made from 304 stainless steel with 2 round holes and 2 elliptical holes in 1 bracket.
- Round hole: Fix the L-shaped iron bracket on the stainless steel or galvanized steel bar
- Elliptical bore: Used to fix the slats.
Refer to the image below for screw positions for the iron bracket. In addition, any direction of the iron bracket (long, short) when placed on the crossbar or slat is fine.

Tool
6 necessary tools for the construction process of 2-polymer wood plastic box slats include:
- Welding machine, angle cutting machine, drilling machine, laser machine, grinding machine
- Tape measure, protractor.

Step 2: Measure, cut and thread the stainless steel box or galvanized steel box into the wood plastic slats
| Kosmos 2-layer polymer coated wood plastic slat code | Size of stainless steel box or galvanized steel box to be threaded into the core of the slat |
| LAM60X42 | 30 x 20mm or 20 x 20mm |
| LAM100X50 | 30 x 30mm or 37 x 40mm or 35 x 35mm |

Note: The iron core is threaded into the slat, leaving about 2cm at each end of the slat (this is the distance to cover the slat).

Step 3: Cover the end of the slat with a plastic slat end cap
Cover one end of the slat with a plastic slat end cap using Kosmos exterior glue. Leave the other end uncovered to secure with the L-shaped iron bracket to the beam.
| Blue code | Corresponding blue cap code |
| LAM60X42 | NL60X42 |
| LAM100X50 | NL100X50 |

Step 4: Build the skeleton
Column section
- Welding stainless steel or galvanized steel bars with brackets
- Fix the bracket to the concrete floor with 12mm iron anchors for security.
Roof
Weld 4 tie beams to the column with a distance between beams ≤100cm.

Step 5: Install 2-layer polymer-coated wood-plastic slats on the roof
1. Measure and mark the position where the L-shaped iron bracket will be installed on the beam (this distance depends on the user's needs). Then, drill a pilot hole and screw 304 stainless steel to fix the L-shaped iron bracket on the beam.

2. The louvers are secured by L-shaped brackets at the elliptical holes using 304 stainless steel screws as shown in the image (the louvers must be pre-drilled before being fixed to the frame). After installing one row of brackets, one box louver is secured, and this process is repeated until completion.
3. Do the same for the remaining slats until the end of the project.
** Kosmos recommends:
Because the 2-layer wood plastic slat has an expansion rate of about 0,1%, the required clearance from the slat to the tie beam is 5mm (for slat length ≤ 1,5m) 8mm (slat length from 1,5m to 3m).
In addition, a 10mm gap should be left between the slats and other obstacles (walls, corners, etc.) for the same reason.

Every 3-6 months, the project needs to be checked and periodically maintained to ensure the best lifespan of the project. If any abnormalities are detected in screws or slats, the construction unit must be notified immediately.

Note: Instructions are for reference only. To have the most suitable construction plan, it is necessary to survey the specific project and come up with an optimal construction solution.
In addition to being used for sunshade roof cladding, 2-layer polymer-coated outdoor wood plastic box panels are also used for wall cladding..
