Instructions for installing gate cladding using round fluted wood-plastic composite panels with 2-layer ASA coating.

When installing round fluted wood-plastic composite panels with 2 layers of ASA coating (3ST195X30) for gates, there are two main scenarios:

  1. Vertical gate cover, horizontal bar installation
  2. Horizontal gate cover, vertical crossbar installation.

Round wave-shaped ASA-coated wood-plastic composite slats weigh 5kg/slat (195x30x3000mm). When installing them on outdoor gates, they must be constructed on a frame structure with a spacing of ≤30cm between the slats. The frame structure for the ASA wood-plastic composite gate slats is made from stainless steel or galvanized steel bars with dimensions ≥25x25mm and a thickness ≥1,2mm.

Step 1: Prepare materials and tools for installing the 2-layer ASA-coated round fluted wood-plastic panel for the gate.

Supplies

Below are the materials you need to prepare when installing a 2-layer ASA-coated wave-shaped wood-plastic composite gate cladding:

  1. Skeleton bars (stainless steel, galvanized steel) size ≥25x25mm and thickness ≥1.2mm
  2. Iron bar
  3. Round wave-shaped slats made of double-layered ASA-coated wood-plastic composite. (3ST195X30)
  4. Wooden bar with the same size as the bone bar
  5. Plate, L plate, L-shaped iron bracket
  6. Stainless steel anchors, flat-tailed screws (fish tail screws), iron anchors.
  7. Swing hinge, gate handle
  8. Copper nail
  9. Kosmos Multipurpose Glue.

Note about stainless steel shelf: The bracket is made from 304 stainless steel and has one slot for attaching to the groove of the ASA fluted panel and one circular hole for screwing the bracket to the support frame.

Tool

Here are 7 essential tools for installing ASA double-layered wood-plastic composite gate cladding:

  1. Angle cutter, drill, welding machine, laser machine
  2. Tape measure, protractor,
  3. Nail gun.

Step 2: Install the gate border

Use 1cm thick and 8,5cm wide iron bars (for 25x25mm, 1,2mm thick support bars). Use a welding machine to connect the iron bars into a rectangle or square (depending on the size of the gate).

Width of the steel bar = size of the support beam + 2 x A (A is the thickness of the fluted ASA wood-plastic panel)

Kosmos ASA round wave louvers are available in two thicknesses: 30mm (3ST195X30).

Step 3: Install the gate frame

The gate frame installation process includes 3 stages:

Step 1. Right at the installation position of the last panel, weld a crossbar about 26mm from the gate edge to fix the wooden crossbar (or other types of wood used for outdoors) with the same size as the crossbar (size ≥25x25mm).

Step 2. Fix the wooden bar with the same size as the frame (25mm thick) to the frame just installed above by using stainless steel screws. Fixing this wooden bar has a special purpose: When constructing the final panel, instead of having to screw directly onto the panel surface (this will cause aesthetic loss due to exposed screws), we will fix the panel to the wooden frame with copper nails.

Kosmos recommends:

  1. Material for making bone bars: Stainless steel or galvanized steel with size ≥ 25x25mm and thickness ≥ 1,2mm.
  2. All welds should be smoothed and painted with anti-rust paint.

Step 3. Weld stainless steel or galvanized steel bars to the center of the iron bar, distance between bars ≤30cm.

  1. Horizontal: Bone bars ≤30cm longitudinally
  2. Vertical: The bone bars are ≤30cm horizontally.

Step 4: Build the skeleton into the gate

Before erecting the skeleton into the gate, it is necessary to install the pivot hinges into the bottom and top of the gate post.

Bottom of gate pillar

Fix the gusset plate to the floor with iron anchors and weld the swivel hinge to the gusset plate.

Top of gate post

  1. Fix the L-shaped bracket on the gate pillar with iron plugs
  2. Continue to weld the L-shaped bracket to the plate
  3. Finally weld the swivel hinge to the gusset plate.

After installing the two upper and lower swivel hinges, weld the frame to the hinge positions as shown in the image below. Leave a gap of 2-3 cm between the gate frame and the posts.

Step 5: Install the round fluted ASA wood-plastic composite panels onto the gate frame (front of the gate).

The ASA wood-plastic composite panel with rounded wave profile at Kosmos Vietnam has the code: 3ST195X30 requirements when constructing ke.

1. Apply Kosmos multi-purpose glue to the bone bar.

2. Install the first panel:

a. Horizontal cladding: Install the first ASA wood-plastic fluted round panel with the male groove facing the ground horizontally, and the female groove facing upwards (install the fluted panel from bottom to top).

Install the first panel with the male groove facing down and the female groove facing up.

b. Vertical cladding: Install the first round ASA wood-plastic fluted panel with the male groove facing the wall vertically, with the female groove facing outwards (install the fluted panel from left to right or right to left depending on the installer).

3. Attach ke Specifically designed for tongue and groove joints, pre-drill pilot holes and use stainless steel screws to fix the brackets to the support beams (the distance between the screw holes is equal to the distance between the support beams). ≤30cm).

4. Continue applying Kosmos multi-purpose glue to the frame to install the second panel.

5. Install the male groove of the second panel into the screwed negative groove of the first panel.

6. Attach the bracket to the groove of the second panel, drill pilot holes, and use stainless steel screws to secure the bracket to the support frame.

7. Repeat steps 4, 5 and 6 for each panel until almost the entire gate is covered.

8. Measure and cut the final panel to fit the frame.

9. Use a nail gun to secure the cladding panels to the mahogany frame with brass nails, ensuring the nail holes are spaced ≤ 1/2.Wide base.

10. Install the handle on the gate, depending on the type of handle, choose the appropriate construction method.

** Kosmos recommends: Pre-drilling is required before screwing the screws into the grooves on the ASA wood-plastic round fluted panel.

Step 6: Install the round fluted ASA wood-plastic composite panels onto the gate frame (the back of the gate).

On the back, just repeat the same 10 steps of step 5.

The ASA-coated, double-layered, fluted wood-plastic composite (3ST195X30) can be used not only for gate cladding but also for horizontal and vertical wall cladding and ceiling cladding for balconies and verandas.

Besides gate cladding with 360-degree swivel hinges, customers can also opt for sliding gates or folding gates. The installation process for the 2-layer ASA-coated round fluted wood-plastic panels is the same; the only difference is the frame structure when installed onto the gate.

Note: Instructions are for reference only. To have the most suitable construction plan, it is necessary to survey the specific project and come up with an optimal construction solution.
