Instructions for covering the gate with 2-layer ASA-coated flat wood-plastic panels
ASA coated 2-layer wood plastic panels when constructing gate cladding have 2 main cases including:
- Vertical gate cover, horizontal bar installation
- Horizontal gate cover, vertical bar installation.

ASA wood plastic panel weighs 1,8kg/bar - 1,89kg/bar. When constructing outdoor gate panels, it is required to construct on a frame system and the distance between the bars is ≤35cm. The bars are made of stainless steel or galvanized steel with dimensions ≥25x25mm and thickness ≥1,2mm.
Weight of 2 ASA-coated 2-layer wood plastic panel codes at Kosmos Vietnam:
| Product code | Dimensions (mm) | Weight |
| OP113X16 | 113 x 16 x 3000mm | 1,89kg/bar ± 5% |
| OP140X12 | 140 x 12 x 3000mm | 1,8kg/bar ± 5% |

ASA coated 2-layer wood plastic panel is a lightweight material, a solution for wall cladding, ceiling cladding, large gate cladding, with unlimited construction area.
Step 1: Prepare materials and tools for constructing 2-layer ASA-coated wood plastic gate panels
Supplies
Below are 12 types of materials you need to prepare when constructing 2-layer ASA-coated flat-edge wood-plastic gate cladding:
- Cross bars (stainless steel, galvanized steel) size ≥25x25mm and thickness ≥1,2mm, iron bars
- Flat profile ASA panel (OP113X16, OP140X12)
- Wooden bar with the same size as the bone bar
- Plate, L plate, L-shaped iron bracket
- Knobs, stainless steel screws with small tails, iron anchors
- Swing hinge, gate handle
- Copper nail
- Kosmos Multipurpose Glue

Tool
Here are 7 necessary tools for the construction process of 2-layer ASA flat-border wood-plastic gate cladding:
- Angle cutter, drill, welding machine, laser machine
- Tape measure, protractor,
- Nail gun.

Step 2: Install the gate border
Use 1cm thick iron bars with a width of 4,9cm - 5,7cm (for 25x25mm 1.2mm thick bars). Use a welding machine to join the iron bars into a rectangle or square (depending on the gate size).
Width of iron bar = size of frame + 2 x A (A is the thickness of ASA wood plastic panel)
OP113X16 with 25mm wide cross bar requires width of iron bar: 57mm
OP140X12 with 25mm wide cross bar requires width of iron bar: 49mm

Step 3: Install the gate frame
The gate frame installation process includes 3 stages:
Step 1. Right at the installation position of the last panel, weld a crossbar about 26mm from the gate edge to fix the wooden crossbar (or other types of wood used for outdoors) with the same size as the crossbar (size ≥25x25mm).
Step 2. Fix the wooden bar with the same size as the frame (25mm thick) to the frame just installed above by using stainless steel screws. Fixing this wooden bar has a special purpose: When constructing the final panel, instead of having to screw directly onto the panel surface (this will cause aesthetic loss due to exposed screws), we will fix the panel to the wooden frame with copper nails.
Kosmos recommends:
- Material for making bone bars: Stainless steel or galvanized steel with size ≥ 25x25mm and thickness ≥ 1.2mm.
- All welds should be smoothed and painted with anti-rust paint.
Step 3. Weld stainless steel or galvanized steel bars to the center of the iron bar, distance between bars ≤35cm.
- Horizontal: Bone bars ≤35cm longitudinally
- Vertical: The bone bars are ≤35cm horizontally.
Step 4: Build the skeleton into the gate
Before erecting the skeleton into the gate, it is necessary to install the pivot hinges into the bottom and top of the gate post.
Bottom of gate pillar
Fix the gusset plate to the floor with iron anchors and weld the swivel hinge to the gusset plate.
Top of gate post
- Fix the L-shaped bracket on the gate pillar with iron plugs
- Continue to weld the L-shaped bracket to the plate
- Finally weld the swivel hinge to the gusset plate.

After completing the 2 upper and lower hinges. Continue welding the frame into the position of the 2 hinges as shown below. The gate frame needs to leave a distance of 2-3cm from the gate post.

Note: All welds should be smoothed and painted with anti-rust paint.
Step 5: Install ASA wood plastic panel on the gate frame (Front of gate)
ASA flat profile wood plastic panels at Kosmos Vietnam have 2 codes: OP140X12 (thick and long hem) , and OP113X16 (short hem) and these two codes require different construction methods when cladding onto the frame.
Install OP140X12 panel onto the frame
8 steps gate cover OP140X12 on the skeleton:
1. Apply Kosmos multi-purpose glue to the bone bar.
2. Install the first panel
- Horizontal: Install the OP140X12 male groove facing the ground horizontally, the female groove facing up (install the panel from bottom to top).
- Vertical: Install OP140X12 male groove close to the wall vertically, with the male groove facing outward (install from right to left or from left to right depending on the construction unit).
3. Drill and screw stainless steel fish tail into the negative groove to fix the panel on the rib (The distance between the screw holes is equal to the distance between the ribs ≤35cm).
4. Continue applying Kosmos multi-purpose glue to the frame to install the second panel.
5. Install the male groove of the second panel into the screwed negative groove of the first panel. Drill a pilot hole and screw the stainless steel screws to fix the second panel onto the crossbar at the negative groove (the distance between the screw holes is equal to the distance between the crossbars). ≤35cm).
6. Repeat steps 4, 5 and 6 for each panel until almost the entire gate is covered.
7. Measure and cut the last panel to fit the frame. Use a nail gun to shoot copper nails to fix the panel to the wooden frame with the distance between the nail holes ≤10cm.
8. Install the handle on the gate, depending on the type of handle, choose the appropriate construction method.
** Kosmos recommends: It is necessary to drill a pilot hole before screwing into the recess of the ASA wood plastic panel.
Install OP113X16 panel onto the frame
8 steps gate cover OP113X16 on the frame:
1. Apply Kosmos multi-purpose glue to the bone bar.
2. Install the first panel
- Horizontal: Install the OP113X16 male groove facing the ground horizontally, the female groove facing up (install the panel from bottom to top).
- Vertical: Install OP113X16 male groove close to the wall vertically, with the male groove facing outward (install from right to left or from left to right depending on the construction unit).
3. Attach ke specialized in the negative groove, pre-drill and screw stainless steel to fix the wedge to the bar (the distance between the screw holes is equal to the distance between the rib bars). ≤35cm).
4. Continue applying Kosmos multi-purpose glue to the frame to install the second panel.
5. Install the male groove of the second panel into the screwed negative groove of the first panel. Attach the bracket to the negative groove of the second panel, drill a pilot hole and screw the stainless steel screw to fix the bracket to the frame.
** Kosmos recommends: It is necessary to drill a pilot hole before screwing into the slot on the recessed groove of the ASA wood plastic panel.
Step 6: Install the wood plastic panel on the gate frame (Back of the gate)
On the back, just repeat the same 8 steps of step 5.

ASA coated 2-layer wood plastic panel OP140X12, OP113X16 can be used not only for gate cladding but also for horizontal and vertical wall installation , and Ceiling panels for balconies and porches.
In addition to gate panels with 360-degree rotating hinges, customers can also make sliding gates or folding gates. The process of installing 2-layer ASA-coated wood-plastic panels is the same, only the frame system is different when installed on the gate.
