Instructions for installing 2-layer ASA-coated wood-plastic composite slats for fencing.
Kosmos' double-layered ASA-coated wood-plastic composite slats (box slats) are commonly used for sunshade pergolas, pergolas, signage, and fences. They have a lifespan of up to 15 years and are backed by a 3-year quality guarantee from Kosmos.
When constructing ASA wood plastic box, you need to pay attention to the following 6 things:
- Insert the U-shaped steel bar into the slat.
- Box panels are constructed on a frame with a distance between bars ≤100cm.
- The slats and the ribs are connected together through L-shaped iron brackets by stainless steel screws.
- The box must be pre-drilled before fixing through the skeleton.
- The distance between 2 slats when connected is about 5mm.
- The slats need to be 10mm away from the wall and wall corners.

Step 1: Prepare materials and tools for installing ASA wood-plastic composite slats for fencing.
Supplies
Below are 8 types of materials you need to prepare:
- Stainless steel or galvanized steel bar
- U-shaped steel
- Kosmos 2-layer ASA-coated wood-plastic composite slats (L-ASA25X50, L-ASA50X50, L-ASA100X50, L-ASA150X50)
- ASA slide end cap (NL-ASA25X50, NL-ASA50X50, NL-ASA100X50, NL-ASA150X50)
- Iron plate L
- Stainless steel flat-tail screws, iron anchors
- Code
- Kosmos exterior glue.

Note on how to use iron bracket L:
L-shaped iron plate has size 50x30mmMade from 304 stainless steel, this bracket has two round and two elliptical holes.
- Round hole: Secure the L-shaped bracket to the wall or to a stainless steel or galvanized steel support beam.
- Elliptical bore: Secure the L-shaped bracket onto the slat.
Refer to the image below for screw positions for the iron bracket. In addition, any direction of the iron bracket (long, short) when placed on the wall/frame or slat is fine.

Note: Before screwing the L-shaped bracket onto the slat, please... Insert the U-shaped steel core inside the front slat. Then proceed to tighten the screws.
Tool
Here are 6 essential tools for installing ASA wood-plastic composite slat fences:
- Angle grinder, drill, welder
- Laser pointer, tape measure, protractor.

Step 2: Measure, cut, and insert the stainless steel or U-shaped steel bar into the wood-plastic composite slats.
| ASA Kosmos wood plastic slat code | Size of U-shaped steel bar with core thread |
| L-ASA25X50 | 41x16mm, 0,8mm thick |
| L-ASA50X50 | 41x40mm, 0,8mm thick |
| L-ASA100X50 | |
| L-ASA150X50 |

Note: When inserting the U-shaped steel core into the slat, a gap should be left. 2cm at each end of the bar To ensure there is enough space to install the end cap properly and aesthetically.

Step 3: Seal the ends of the ASA-coated wood-plastic composite slats.
To complete the installation, attach the end caps to the ASA-coated wood-plastic composite slats, then place the caps inside the slat box.
| Blue code | Corresponding blue cap code |
| L-ASA25X50 | NL-ASA25X50 |
| L-ASA50X50 | NL-ASA50X50 |
| L-ASA100X50 | NL-ASA100X50 |
| L-ASA150X50 | NL-ASA150X50 |
Step 4: Erect the fence frame.
The process of constructing the fence frame consists of the following two steps:
1. Secure the base plates to the concrete foundation/foundation beam using steel anchors (distance between base plates ≤2,5m).

2. Weld the stainless steel (galvanized steel) posts securely onto the base plate and insert the ASA wood-plastic composite support beams into the pre-erected posts.

3. Install the end caps on the ASA wood-plastic composite support posts.

4. Secure the horizontal stainless steel or galvanized steel bars onto the ASA wood-plastic posts using L-shaped brackets.

5. Weld the vertical stainless steel or galvanized steel bars onto the horizontal bars, with a spacing of ≤1m between the vertical bars.

Step 5: Install 2-layer ASA-coated wood plastic slats
The process of installing ASA wood-plastic composite slats onto the frame consists of 3 steps:
1. Measure and mark the positions where the L-shaped brackets will be installed on the frame (the distance depends on the user's needs). Then, pre-drill pilot holes and use 304 stainless steel screws to fix the L-shaped brackets to the frame. Visually identify two areas. Above eye level, the bracket securing the slats should point upwards. Below eye level, the bracket securing the slats should point downwards.

2. The louvers are secured by L-shaped brackets at the elliptical holes using 304 stainless steel screws (the louvers must be pre-drilled before being fixed to the frame). After installing one row of brackets, one box louver is secured, and this process is repeated until completion.
2.1 Area below eye level.

2.2 Area above eye level.

3. Do the same for the remaining slats until the end of the project.

Kosmos recommends:
- When connecting 2 slats together, a gap must be left to avoid cracking due to expansion when used outdoors. If the ambient temperature is higher than 5℃ when installing the slats, the allowable gap is 3mm, if lower than 5℃, the allowable gap is 5mm.
- In addition, a 10mm gap should be left between the slats and other obstacles (walls, corners, etc.) for the same reason.

Every 3-6 months, the project needs to be checked and periodically maintained to ensure the best lifespan of the project. If any abnormalities are detected in screws or slats, the construction unit must be notified immediately.
Note: Instructions are for reference only. To have the most suitable construction plan, it is necessary to survey the specific project and come up with an optimal construction solution.
In addition to being used for fencing, 2-layer ASA-coated outdoor wood-plastic composite slats are also used for... decorative wall claddingsunshade.
