Instructions for installing fluted plastic panel ceiling on skeleton
Fluted panel plastic panels weigh 3,2 - 5,6 kg/bar. When installing interior ceiling panels, they need to be installed on a frame system and the distance between the bars must be ≤50 cm. Fluted panel panels installed on a frame have 2 main cases:
- Vertical ceiling panel, horizontal bar installation
- Horizontal ceiling panel, vertical frame installation.

The fluted panel ceiling frame system can be made from galvanized steel bars, plastic beams, wooden bars or aluminum gypsum U-shaped bars. In this article, Kosmos will introduce 5 steps to install fluted panel ceiling on galvanized steel frame.

Weight of 9 types of fluted panel at Kosmos Vietnam:
| Product code | Dimensions (mm) | Weight |
| K3S200 (Kosmos) | 198 x 15 x 3000mm | 4,2kg/bar ±5% |
| K4S152 (Kosmos) | 152 x 9 x 3000mm | 3,2kg/bar ±5% |
| K3SC30 (Kosmos) | 200 x 30 x 3000mm | 5,6kg/bar ±5% |
| 3SK (Kosmos) | 195 x 14 x 3000mm | 3,4kg/bar ±5% |
| 4SK (Kosmos) | 150 x 12 x 3000mm | 3,3kg/bar ±5% |
| 5ST (Kosmos) | 195 x 9 x 3000mm | 3,2 – 3,4kg/bar ±5% |
| L4S (Galawood) | 150 x 12 x 3000mm | 3kg/bar ±5% |
| L3S (Galawood) | 195 x 14 x 3000mm | 3,6kg/bar ±5% |
Step 1: Prepare materials and tools for fluted panel ceiling construction
Supplies
You need to prepare the following 8 materials to install the ceiling with fluted panel:
- Skeleton bars (galvanized steel bars, plastic beams, wooden bars or aluminum plaster U-shaped bars)
- Fluted panel (K3S200, K4S152, K3SC30, 3SK, 4SK, 5ST, L4S, L3S)
- Accessories (ceiling moldings, recessed corner strips)
- Iron anchor
- Stainless steel screws
- Copper nail
- Stainless steel kettle
- Kosmos interior glue or multipurpose glue.

*Note about stainless steel shelf: The bracket is made of 304 stainless steel with 1 notch to fit into the fluted panel groove and 1 round hole to shoot stainless steel screws to fix the bracket to the frame.

Tool
8 tools needed to prepare for fluted panel ceiling construction include:
- Angle cutter, drill, welding machine, laser machine
- Tape measure, angle ruler
- Folding ladder
- Nail gun.

Step 2: Create a joint between the ceiling and the frame using iron anchors
The process of creating a joint between the ceiling and the frame using iron anchors includes 3 steps:
- Using a drill, drill into the ceiling, distance between holes ≤50cm
- Insert iron plugs into drilled holes
- Tighten the anchor bolts until the connections are secure and strong.
Step 3: Build the skeleton
Using a welding machine, weld the frame bars to the iron plugs already on the ceiling, the distance between the frames is ≤500mm (50cm). The joints need to be smoothed and painted with anti-rust paint.

Step 4: Install the fluted panel onto the frame
8 steps to install fluted panel on the frame:
1. Apply Kosmos interior glue or Kosmos multipurpose glue into the frame before installing the panel.

2. Install the first fluted panel's male groove close to the wall (7-10mm from the wall), with the male groove facing outwards.

3. Attach the specialized bracket to the recessed groove, fix it to the frame with stainless steel screws (distance between screw holes equals distance between frames ≤50cm).

4. Apply Kosmos interior glue or Kosmos multi-purpose glue to the frame before installing the second panel.

5. Install the male groove of the second panel into the screwed negative groove of the first panel.

6. Attach the bracket to the recessed groove of the second panel and secure it with stainless steel screws to the crossbar right at the bracket hole.

7. Repeat steps 4,5,6 above for each panel and stop at the last panel.

8. Measure and cut off the excess of the last fluted panel from the frame. Then, install the male groove into the male groove of the previous panel. Drill a pilot hole and screw the last fluted panel to the frame.
Kosmos recommends
It is necessary to drill pilot holes before screwing into the grooves on the fluted panel. A panel length of 3000mm (3m) requires at least 7 stainless steel grooves. At the position where the panels need to be joined, the joints must be placed on the rib.
Step 5: Complete the fluted panel construction with accessories
Cover exposed end panel edges with cofferdam or recessed corner moulding. Note that at right angles the fittings need to be cut at a 45° angle.
Finishing the project with ceiling moldings
Finishing the project with negative corner molding

Fluted panel can be used not only for ceiling cladding but also for decorative wall cladding construction.
