EN 15534-1:2014+A1:2017 Section 9.2 & ISO 11359-1-2014 & ISO 11359-2-1999 Method A determines the coefficient of linear thermal expansion of materials, measuring the change in dimensions with temperature. The test piece is heated over a certain temperature range and the change in length is recorded to calculate the coefficient of expansion.

Variation characteristics
| Testing method | Result |
| EN 15534-1:2014+A1:2017 Section 7.4.2 | Distortion factor (Cf): 1.12 Deformation recovery (Erc): 46% |
According to the test, Kosmos 2-layer polymer-coated outdoor wood plastic has a deformation factor (Cf) of 1,12 and a deformation recovery (Erc) of 46%. The closer the Cf index is to 1, the better, indicating that the material is less likely to deform under load.
The strain recovery index of 46% enables the material to recover nearly half of its deformation after the load is removed, ensuring long-term structural strength for outdoor structures.
EN 15534-1:2014+A1:2017 Section 7.4.2 method assesses the ability of a material to withstand force and recover its shape when subjected to an external force. A force is applied to the test specimen for a certain period of time, after which the force is released and the degree of recovery of the shape of the specimen is recorded for assessment.

Flexural modulus of elasticity and flexural strength
| Testing method | Result |
| EN 15534-1:2014+A1:2017 Annex A | Bending force: 36Mpa Bending modulus of elasticity: 3.73Gpa |
The polymer coated 2-layer wood plastic composite has a bending strength of 36MPa and a bending modulus of elasticity of 3,73GPa, determined according to EN 15534-1:2014+A1:2017 Annex A. These values indicate that the material has ideal stiffness to withstand heavy loads without sagging, making it particularly suitable for load-bearing applications such as outdoor floors, stairs, footbridges, railings.
EN 15534-1:2014+A1:2017 Annex A method measures the bending strength and stiffness of materials. The test specimen is placed on two support points and a bending force is applied in the middle until the specimen breaks. The maximum bending force and deflection of the specimen are used to calculate the modulus of elasticity and bending strength.
Minimal possibility of failure
| Testing method | Result |
| ASTM D4226-19e1 Procedure A | 13.9J |
Kosmos Polymer Coated 2-layer Wood Plastic has a high impact resistance of 13,9J when tested according to ASTM D4226-19e1 Procedure A. In practice, the 13,9J level is equivalent to the ability to withstand the impact of a 1,4kg object falling from a height of 1m without cracking or permanent deformation.
This property is especially important for outdoor floors, stairs and high traffic areas where the material is frequently subjected to impact.
ASTM D4226-19e1 Procedure A evaluates the impact resistance of materials. The impact that causes the specimen to fail is recorded to evaluate the impact resistance of the material.
Brinell hardness and elastic recovery rate
| Testing method | Result |
| EN 15534-1:2014+A1:2017 Setion 7.5 | Brinell hardness: 64Mpa |
| Elastic recovery rate: 53% |
Kosmos 2-layer outdoor wood plastic has a Brinell hardness of 64MPa and a high elastic recovery rate of 53% according to EN 15534-1:2014+A1:2017 Setion 7.5. This hardness index helps the material surface effectively resist dents caused by concentrated pressure such as high heels, table and chair legs or falling objects.
The 53% elastic recovery rate means that the material can recover more than half of its deformation when the pressure is removed, helping to maintain the aesthetics and durability of the surface even after many years of use, especially in high traffic areas such as terraces, walkways and pool areas.
EN 15534-1:2014+A1:2017 Section 7.5 method for determining the surface hardness and elastic recovery of materials. A steel ball is pressed into the surface of the test specimen with a certain force for a specific period of time. The diameter of the indentation made on the surface and the depth of the indentation are measured to calculate the Brinell hardness and the percentage of elastic recovery.

Rockwell hardness test
| Testing method | Result |
| ASTM D785-08(2015) Procedure A | 72R |
Kosmos Polymer Coated 2-layer Wood Plastic achieves a Rockwell hardness of 72R according to ASTM D785-08(2015) Procedure A. This index is in the high segment of the Rockwell scale.
In fact, this hardness allows the material to effectively resist scratches from furniture, children's toys, pet claws and sharp objects commonly encountered in everyday life.
Research by the European Institute for Building Materials shows that materials with a Rockwell hardness of over 70R can maintain an intact surface in commercial environments such as restaurants, hotels and public entertainment areas with a maintenance cycle of 3-6 months/time.
ASTM D785-08(2015) Procedure A measures the surface hardness of materials, but uses a diamond cone or steel ball indenter. The indenter is pressed into the surface of the test specimen with a certain preload force, then increased to a larger value. The depth of the indentation produced by the indenter is used to determine the Rockwell hardness.
Swelling and water absorption
| Testing method | Result |
| EN 15534-1:2014 Seciton 9.6.1 & EN ISO 11925-2:2020 | Minimum expansion: 0.17% (Thickness) – 0.01% (Width) – 0.02% (Length) |
| Maximum expansion by sample: 0.21% (Thickness) – 0.02% (Width) – 0.03% (Length) | |
| Maximum water absorption: 0.05% | |
| Maximum water absorption by sample: 0.06% |
Kosmos Polymer Coated 2-layer Wood Plastic maintains excellent dimensional stability with extremely low swelling index: 0,17% in thickness, 0,01% in width and 0,02% in length, tested according to EN 15534-1:2014 Seciton 9.6.1 & EN ISO 11925-2:2020.
In a real environment, a 2m long 3-layer wood plastic floor panel will only change its size by a maximum of 0,9mm when exposed to water or high humidity. Complementing this characteristic, the material has a maximum water absorption of only 0,05%, helping to maintain structural stability and effectively prevent mold and rot problems commonly found in materials with high water absorption in humid outdoor environments.
EN 15534-1:2014 Section 9.6.1 & EN ISO 11925-2:2020 method evaluates the dimensional stability and water resistance of materials. The dimensional changes in thickness, width and length of the sample before and after immersion in water are measured to calculate the swelling. The mass of the sample before and after immersion in water is also determined to calculate the water absorption.

Kosmos 2-layer polymer-coated wood plastic is a high-quality product line that fully meets strict technical standards. With the ability to resist abrasion, water, and good bearing capacity.
