Mirrored glass ceiling – 95% reflectivity
Mirrored glass ceiling is a type of ceiling that uses 4-5mm thick real glass panels with the highest reflectivity (~95%), processed with 4 beveled edges and joined together to create a perfect reflective surface. They are joined together in various shapes and styles, depending on the specific design requirements of each customer, to create mirror panels of different sizes.

Advantages of glass mirror ceiling:
- Creates the most realistic reflection effect (95%), bringing maximum depth and luxury to the space.
- High durability if using good quality glass and proper construction techniques.
- Easy to clean surface.
Disadvantages of glass mirror ceiling:
- Quite heavy weight (5mm thick glass panel weighs 12,5kg/m)2), requiring a strong reinforced skeletal system.
- The cost is usually higher than other mirror imitation materials.
- The construction process is complicated and requires highly skilled workers to ensure safety and aesthetics.
- Fragile if subjected to strong impact.
Bamboo charcoal mirror ceiling – 70-80% reflectivity
Bamboo charcoal mirror ceiling is a ceiling using mirror-coated bamboo charcoal panels. This is an advanced composite material, made up of 5 separate layers, each layer has an important function. The structure of the mirror-coated bamboo charcoal panels includes:
- Surface protection film: This layer gives a mirror-like glossy effect, using modern PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) coating technology.
- Decorative PVC film layer: This layer determines the color of the panel, with popular options such as gold, black, gray, pink, tea.
- Bonding adhesive layer: This type of glue is used to bond layers together, meeting E0 standards, ensuring safety for the user's health.
- Bamboo charcoal layer: This core layer has a compression ratio ranging from 0,65 to 0,7 kg/cm³, made from bamboo charcoal powder and resin.
- Protective bottom layer: This layer is pressed using magnetic technology, which protects the bamboo charcoal core layer from external factors.

Advantages of bamboo charcoal mirror ceiling:
- Reasonable price (can be 20-40% lower than tempered glass), quick construction.
- Light weight (17,76 kg/3,416m² panel, ~6 kg/1m²), reduces load on construction, safer than glass mirrors.
- Beautiful glossy surface, good mirror simulation.
- Environmentally friendly thanks to bamboo charcoal ingredients.
- Color diversity.
Disadvantages of bamboo charcoal mirror ceiling:
- The reflection is not as perfect as a real mirror (about 70-80%).
- Sensitive to acid glue and requires an even, lump-free glue layer.
- Skeleton and pads are needed during construction to ensure flatness.
- Durability may not be as good as stainless steel or tempered glass under harsh conditions.
Kosmos Vietnam always recommends customers to use specialized neutral silicone glue and apply it on a skeleton system with a backing board (plywood or fiber cement board) to ensure absolute flatness for the ceiling surface.

Mirror stainless steel ceiling – reflectivity 65-75%
Mirror stainless steel ceiling is a type of ceiling made from stainless steel (stainless steel) panels with a specially treated surface to achieve a high gloss, allowing 65-75% reflection. There are 3 main types of mirror stainless steel panels used for ceiling cladding such as 304 stainless steel, 201 stainless steel and titanium stainless steel, they differ in their corrosion resistance.
- 304 mirror stainless steel sheet: Contains a minimum of 18% Chromium and 8% Nickel, providing excellent corrosion and oxidation resistance, suitable for both interior and semi-exterior environments. Can be PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) plated to create durable colors such as titanium gold, bronze, titanium black, sapphire blue. This PVD coating also increases surface hardness up to 3-5 times compared to normal stainless steel. Common thicknesses range from 0.6mm to 1.2mm.
- 201 mirror stainless steel sheet: The lower cost is due to the lower nickel content (approximately 4,5%) and partial replacement with manganese. However, its corrosion resistance is not as good as 304 stainless steel, and it is prone to yellowing or slight rusting in prolonged humid environments. Kosmos recommends that this type be used indoors and dried immediately if it gets wet, avoiding immersion in water.
- Titanium mirror stainless steel sheet: This is a high-end stainless steel line, coated with a layer of titanium on the surface to increase gloss and scratch resistance. This type of stainless steel has very high durability, diverse colors, extremely impressive gloss and is often imported from foreign suppliers. The color fastness can be up to 10-20 years even in harsh conditions.

Advantages of mirror stainless steel ceiling:
- High mechanical strength, anti-rust, good corrosion resistance (especially stainless steel 304 and titanium).
- Modern, luxurious appearance, with many unique colors.
- Easy to clean, resistant to humid environments.
- Can be shaped and bent to a certain extent.
Disadvantages of mirror stainless steel ceiling:
- High cost, especially titanium mirror stainless steel.
- The surface is susceptible to scratches if not careful (however titanium stainless steel is more scratch resistant).
- Construction requires specialized machinery (laser cutting machine, CNC bending machine) and high techniques to ensure sophisticated joints.
- Can feel cold if not coordinated harmoniously with other materials.

Mirror aluminum ceiling – 60-70% reflectivity
Mirror aluminum ceiling is a type of ceiling made from aluminum panels (short for Aluminum composite panel - aluminum plastic alloy panel) with a specially treated surface that reflects images and light.
The structure of a typical mirror aluminum panel includes a surface layer of aluminum that is effectively resistant to corrosion and a high-grade plastic core layer, usually polyethylene plastic, that is capable of withstanding high temperatures as well as being fire-resistant to a certain extent.
Advantages of mirror aluminum ceiling
- Light weight (1220x2440mm panel weighs about 13-19kg, ~5-6kg/1m²), easy to transport and construct.
- Relatively affordable price compared to glass or stainless steel.
- Good soundproofing and heat insulation.
- Variety of colors and sizes.
- Easy to cut and shape according to design.
Disadvantages of mirror aluminum ceiling
- The reflectivity and clarity of the mirror surface are not equal to real glass (about 60-70%).
- The durability of the mirror surface can be affected by environmental factors and time if it is of low quality. The color fastness of PE coating is usually worse than PVDF, it can fade after 3-5 years if exposed to direct sunlight with high intensity.
- The plastic core layer needs to be of good quality to avoid problems with thermal deformation or fading.

Mirror mica ceiling – reflectivity 75-85%
Mirrored acrylic ceilings, or more precisely mirrored acrylic ceilings (Mirrored Acrylic Sheet), use PMMA (Poly(methyl methacrylate)) plastic sheets coated with a thin layer of metal (usually aluminum) on the back to create a mirror effect. Acrylic sheets have a specific gravity of only about 50% that of glass (about 1,19 g/cm³), making it an extremely light and safe material.
Advantages of mirror mica ceiling:
- Very light weight, about 50% lighter than glass, helps reduce the load on the ceiling structure and is easy to construct.
- It is harder to break than glass, and if it does break, it does not form dangerous sharp shards.
- Easy to cut, bend, and shape into complex designs.
- Price is usually cheaper than glass.
Disadvantages of mica mirror ceiling:
- The surface is softer than glass, more susceptible to scratches during use and cleaning.
- The surface flatness of large sheets of mica may not be as perfect as glass, sometimes creating a slight “ripple” effect when reflecting (75-85% reflectivity).
- May yellow or lose shine after long periods of use if exposed to UV rays or unsuitable chemicals.
- Some poor quality mica may warp slightly when the temperature changes.

Glossy stretch ceiling – 80-90% reflectivity
Stretch Mirror Ceiling is a modern suspended ceiling solution, using a special type of stretch membrane with a very high surface gloss, creating a mirror-like reflective effect (80-90%). This type of ceiling consists of two main components:
- Stretch film: This component is made from synthetic PVC (Polyvinyl chloride), which has non-flammability and great elasticity. The thickness of the film usually ranges from 0,18mm to 0,30mm and an extremely rich color palette, up to 122 different colors.
- Skeletal system: This system consists of a square iron frame (e.g. 25x25x1.2mm) used to create the desired shape of the ceiling and to provide a solid support. On this iron frame, a specialized H-shaped aluminum frame system will be mounted as a stretch ceiling border, where the membrane will be installed and stretched.

Advantages of glossy stretch ceiling
- Creates a flat, seamless, joint-free ceiling surface (with large membrane widths).
- High gloss, good reflection, brings luxury and modern beauty. The gloss and reflection of high quality stretch film can reach 90% compared to glass mirror.
- Super light weight (only about 180-300 grams/m²), does not put pressure on the structure of the building.
- Fast, clean, dust-free construction.
- Waterproof, anti-mold, no yellowing, easy to clean.
- Variety of colors (up to 122 colors) and surface types.
Disadvantages of glossy stretch ceiling
- Easily damaged (torn, punctured) by sharp objects.
- The cost may be higher than some other materials.
- Requires professional, experienced construction team and specialized tools.
- Repairing a tear can be complicated and expensive.

Frequently Asked Questions About Mirror Ceilings
Should I make a mirror ceiling?
Mirrored ceilings are suitable for spaces that need to visually expand, enhance natural light and create a modern accent for the interior. However, do not forget to pay attention to important factors such as lighting arrangement, maintenance frequency and ensuring comfort and ease for users in that space.
Advantages of making mirror ceiling:
- Expand space: The reflective properties of mirrored ceilings, especially high-gloss types such as glass or stretch ceilings, create the illusion of height and width (visual expansion), making small rooms (for example, under 15m² or low ceilings under 2,6m) feel significantly more spacious and comfortable. According to a study published by the American Institute of Architects in March 3, spaces with mirrored ceilings are perceived to be 2024-15% larger than their actual size.
- Increase aesthetics: Mirrored ceilings are not only a functional solution but also a valuable decorative element. They create a unique highlight, enhancing the luxury and modern, sophisticated look of the living or working space.
- Light reflection: Reflective surfaces help diffuse light effectively, brighten up dark corners and reduce dependence on daylight. This not only improves the quality of light but can also help save 5-10% on lighting energy costs.
- Easy to clean: Compared to many other ceiling materials such as plaster or wood, the surface of mirror ceilings (especially glass, stainless steel, or stretch film) is often smooth, making cleaning and maintenance easier.

Disadvantages of making mirror ceiling:
- Risk of eye irritation or feeling “overwhelmed”: If you overuse mirror ceilings on too large an area in a small space, or arrange the light to shine directly on the mirror causing glare, it can create a feeling of discomfort and loss of concentration. Kosmos recommends that mirror ceilings should be used sparingly, creating highlights in certain areas (for example, the center of the living room, dining area). Combine with indirect lighting, ceiling lights to create a soft effect.
- Requires regular maintenance to maintain beauty: Dirt and fingerprints can be easily seen on the mirror surface, requiring regular cleaning.
- Investment and construction costs: Some high-end mirror ceilings have quite high initial costs. You should consider alternative materials that are more affordable but still ensure a relatively aesthetic effect such as bamboo charcoal mirror ceilings and mirror-polished aluminum.
- Feng Shui issues (according to Eastern concepts): Some people are concerned that a mirrored ceiling in the bedroom may have a negative impact. If you are concerned, avoid installing a mirrored ceiling directly above the bed. Instead, it can be used in the dressing room, hallway or bathroom area.
What is an infinity mirror ceiling?
The Infinity Mirror Ceiling is a unique and impressive ceiling design, using the technique of arranging two parallel layers of mirrors, combined with a cleverly arranged LED system in the middle, to create a continuously repeating reflective light effect. This effect gives the viewer a feeling of infinite depth and width of space, like looking into a tunnel of light with no end.
Structure and operating principle of infinity mirror ceiling:
- Two layers of mirrors: The system consists of a regular reflective mirror (mirror) and a special mirror, which can be a semi-transparent mirror or a one-way mirror. This one-way mirror allows light from the inside to pass through but limits light from the outside to enter, while still reflecting light from the inside.
- LED lighting system: LED strips, usually LED strips or LED modules, are installed in the space between the two mirror layers. They are the main source of light to create the effect.
- Working principle: The light emitted from the LED system will shine on the regular reflective mirror layer, then reflect back towards the one-way mirror layer. Part of the light will pass through the one-way mirror layer to the outside (for the viewer to see), the remaining part will continue to reflect back to the regular mirror layer. This continuous reflection process between the two mirror surfaces creates many virtual layers of light sources, overlapping and fading inwards, creating an "infinity" effect with repeated layers of light, bringing a sense of unlimited depth.

What is a corrugated mirror ceiling?
The corrugated mirror ceiling is a ceiling design that uses panels of materials with a wavy surface, and this surface has a high gloss to reflect images and light, similar to the effect of rippling water. Common materials used to create this type of ceiling include corrugated stainless steel panels or corrugated metal bamboo charcoal panels.

What is the most popular ceiling mirror color?
Nowadays, smoky gray, tea and black mirror ceilings are popular and commonly used in modern interior designs, bringing a sophisticated beauty and suitable for many different styles.
- Smoke gray mirror ceiling: Smoke gray brings luxury, mystery and a bit of classic. It is not too bright but still enough to create the effect of space and depth.
- Tea-colored mirror ceiling: Tea color (also known as light bronze) creates a warm, elegant and noble feeling. This is an ideal choice for spaces that want to balance between modernity and warmth.
- Black mirror ceiling: Black mirrored ceilings make a strong statement of personality, class and depth. They are especially suitable for minimalist, industrial style spaces or places that need a dramatic highlight.
In addition, colors such as bronze gold and silver white are also used depending on preferences and overall design.

It can be seen that mirror ceilings are a modern interior design solution, bringing the effect of expanding space, increasing brightness and a luxurious appearance. There are many popular types of mirror ceiling panels such as glass, bamboo charcoal, stainless steel, aluminum, mica and stretch ceilings, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. The popular colors today are smoky gray, tea and black. If you need more advice on this type of ceiling, you can contact Kosmos Vietnam at 0932.067.388
