PVC Wall Panel
PVC plastic panels: Structure, advantages and disadvantages, classification and quotation
PVC plastic panels are designed with an optimal 4-layer structure: The surface layer is made of virgin PVC with a thickness of 0,1 - 0,3mm, the structural core determines the mechanical properties, the protective layer behind prevents water absorption and the reinforcing components such as fiberglass or carbon fiber help increase the bending resistance 2 - 3 times compared to the conventional type.
PVC panels are widely used in 5 main categories: Exterior decoration, interior tiling, advertising and media processing, partitions, and decorative CNC processing. The market offers 3 different types of surfaces including monochrome, wood grain, and stone grain to meet diverse design needs.

The product has 7 outstanding advantages: Reusable and environmentally friendly, easy to process, completely moisture-proof and waterproof, chemical-resistant and fire-resistant, light weight with a density of 0,45 - 0,65 g/cm³, good sound and heat insulation with a low thermal conductivity of 0,035 - 0,055 W/m·K and easy to clean and maintain.
However, this material has 2 limitations to note: Its load-bearing capacity is not optimal compared to natural wood or metal and its sensitivity to high temperatures can cause deformation or peeling of the surface.
What is the structure of plastic panels?
PVC Foam plastic board is designed with a 4-layer structure to optimize both function and aesthetics, including: Surface protection layer, structural core, back protection layer, and reinforcement components.
- Surface Layer: The surface layer is usually made from virgin PVC or composite with additives. Thanks to this layer, the plastic board is scratch-resistant, waterproof and abrasion-resistant. The average thickness of the surface layer ranges from 0,1 - 0,3mm depending on the product line.
- Core Layer: This core is the decisive factor that creates the characteristic “foam” characteristic of the material, formed by the combination of PVC plastic and foaming additives. Thanks to the internal porous structure, the foam board has a light weight, while providing effective insulation, soundproofing and flexibility when applied in construction.
- Back Layer: This layer helps prevent water absorption from the floor or environment, thereby preventing the core from rotting, cracking and maintaining dimensional stability over a long period of time.
- Reinforcement Elements: Some product lines are also integrated with additional reinforcement components such as fiberglass, carbon fiber or polymer compounds. These materials help the plastic panel increase its bending resistance 2-3 times compared to conventional types.

What are the applications of PVC panels?
PVC panels are widely used in 5 different categories: Exterior decoration, interior tiling, advertising construction cladding, partitions and decorative CNC processing.
- Exterior decoration: Making walls, doors, space partitions...
- Interior tiling: Wall panels, ceiling panels, lamri, la pho, create aesthetic highlights for living space.
- Advertising and media construction cladding: Manufacturing of advertising boards, signs, exhibition display boards, information boards.
- Making partitions: With its lightweight properties and moderate thickness, PVC Foam plastic panels are a suitable choice for constructing partitions in houses, living rooms or hotel spaces.
- Decorative CNC machining: Thanks to its flat and easy-to-cut surface, this material is also used for CNC machining to create patterns and decorative motifs, bringing aesthetic highlights to living spaces.

What are the advantages of plastic panels?
Thanks to being produced on a modern technological line, PVC Foam plastic panels have 7 advantages including: Reusable; easy to process; moisture-proof, waterproof; chemical-resistant, fire-resistant; light weight; good sound insulation, heat insulation and easy to clean.
- Reusable: Excess boards can be recycled, saving costs and contributing to environmental protection.
- Easy to process: Has moderate flexibility, easy to bend, drill, saw, glue or nail, suitable for creating many different product designs.
- Moisture-proof, waterproof: Ideal for replacing wood in areas that are frequently exposed to water such as kitchen cabinets, sinks, and bathroom cabinets.
- Chemical resistance, fire resistance: Suitable for applications in laboratories, hospitals, karaoke rooms and spaces requiring high safety.
- Light-weight: With a density of 0,45 - 0,65 g/cm3, plastic panels are easy to construct and are lighter than natural wood and engineered wood panels.
- Good sound and heat insulation: With low thermal conductivity (about 0,035 – 0,055 W/m·K) and internal air bubble structure, the product helps keep the space quiet and stabilizes the temperature.
- Easy to clean: Waterproof, easy to clean surface, maintains lasting beauty over time.

What are the disadvantages of PVC plastic boards?
PVC plastic boards have 2 limitations that users need to pay attention to when applying them to construction projects: Suboptimal load-bearing capacity and sensitivity to high temperatures.
- Suboptimal load bearing capacity: Compared with high hardness materials such as natural wood or metal, PVC Foam panels are less durable when bearing heavy loads, so they are not suitable for projects requiring outstanding strength.
- Sensitivity to high temperature: When exposed to high temperature environments for long periods of time, PVC Foam plastic sheets are at risk of deformation or surface peeling, reducing their lifespan and aesthetics.

How many types of PVC panels are there?
To meet the diverse needs of interior design and construction, PVC panels are produced with 3 different surface types: Monochrome, wood grain and stone grain. Each type brings its own aesthetic, suitable for each space and design style.
- Monochrome plastic panels: Solid PVC panels have a uniform one-color finish, usually in a smooth or light gloss finish.
- Wood grain PVC board: Wood grain PVC panels simulate the texture and pigment of natural wood through high resolution printing techniques or embossed wood film to create a realistic touch feeling.
- PVC stone grain plastic board: PVC stone pattern sheet is manufactured to reproduce marble or granite patterns using high-tech printing methods and finished with a glossy or semi-gloss surface to catch light like real stone.

What to note when using plastic panels?
To keep PVC plastic panels durable and aesthetically pleasing, users need to note the following 4 things:
- Avoid using strong acidic or alkaline cleaners: These solutions may react with the panel surface, causing corrosion, fading or loss of gloss. Instead, use a neutral cleaning solution and wipe gently with a soft cloth to protect the surface.
- Do not use adhesives containing solvents: Solvent-based glues can easily soften, deform or leave streaks on the surface of PVC panels. If bonding is required, prioritize specialized glues for plastic materials to ensure safety and aesthetics.
- Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight: Store in a cool, dry area, limit humidity to maintain product shelf life.
- Be careful during transportation: Despite its good mechanical strength, PVC plastic panels can still be scratched or cracked when subjected to strong impacts. Therefore, they need to be carefully wrapped and stacked properly during transportation to minimize risks.

What is the process of producing plastic panels?
Here are 3 basic steps in the production process of quality PVC Foam plastic boards:
- Step 1. Prepare and mix ingredients: Raw materials are accurately weighed and measured by an automatic system, then fed into the mixer. This process creates friction to generate heat, helping the additives dissolve and mix well with the plastic. After reaching the required time and temperature, the mixture will be transferred to the cooling chamber.
- Step 2. Extrusion and shaping: The plastic mixture is fed into the extruder, heated and plasticized by the screw. Next, the raw material is pressed through a hot mold and then into a cold mold to form the sheet. The product is printed with specifications, coated with a protective layer, trimmed and cut to standard sizes.
- Step 3. Quality control (QC): Finished products will be inspected for surface hardness, thickness, size and weight to ensure they meet standards before leaving the factory.
