6 Steps to install and construct the most durable and beautiful imitation wood and imitation stone plastic flooring
To install imitation wood and imitation stone plastic flooring in the correct and most aesthetic manner for your project, you need to follow these steps:
Step 1: Renovate the floor to construct imitation wood and imitation stone plastic floors
Before constructing faux wood or faux stone plastic floors, we should survey the project's condition to estimate materials and find appropriate construction methods.
Laminate flooring has a thickness of about 4mm, so the construction surface should have a high level of flatness. Preferably within 1m then the ground difference should not exceed 2 mm.
Water does not affect the durability of the plastic floor much. However, installing the floor on a damp surface will produce mold and mildew. Make sure the construction area is really dry and carefully check the water pipes in the house.
To avoid opening/closing the door and scratching the floor, make sure your feet are about . away from the floor 10 - 15mm.
Step 2: Prepare tools to install locking plastic floors
Before constructing the plastic floor with imitation wood and imitation stone, we need to prepare materials such as:
- Skirting.
- Plastic floor brace.
- Plastic floor lock.
- Cutter, knife.
- Iron hammer, stainless steel nail.
- Rubber hammer.
- Pads.
- Measure.
- Styrofoam floor mats.
In particular, Kosmos Vietnam has just launched Lockable plastic floor with rubber base available so there is no need to use additional foam sheets.
Step 3: Fix the brace base to the floor with a hammer and nails
We install the brackets at locations such as the base of the wall (when wool is not used), where furniture is entangled, and the location of doors.
Note:
- Where to end the flooring will be used splint F.
- The place where the boards need to be joined will be used splint.
Normally, T braces will be used at doors and to divide areas for long projects > 10m.
Step 4: Spread foam lining for the locking plastic floor
Except for plastic floors with built-in rubber soles, when constructing plastic floors with imitation wood and imitation stone, foam lining is required. The foam sheet will be spread evenly and the eyelids will be glued together with tape. We must not let the foam stack, keep the floor always flat.
Note: If the plastic floor has a thick edge of about 1.5 mm then only use foam floorboards about . thick 1 - 2mm.
Step 5: Assemble plastic flooring with imitation wood and imitation stone
SPC vinyl flooring is assembled using a locking system, so there is no need for glue like other types of plastic flooring (glued plastic floor, self-glued plastic floor). We proceed to pair the yang ferrule of this board to the yin mesh of the other game to connect them together.
Note:
- The floor has the most beautiful effect when installed in the direction of the light.
- Leave a gap between the floor and wall of approx 10 - 15mm.
- After assembling the hem edge, we have to lightly tap the edge of the board with a rubber hammer or an iron hammer and a spacer.
The way to install laminate flooring is very popular nowadays. When mounting, we will divide the floor into rows with 3 orders of 1 - 2 - 3, specifically:
- The first game, row 1, is kept at full length.
- The first game in row 2 will be ⅓ the length of the first game in row 1.
- The first game in row 3 will be ⅔ the length of the first game in row 1.
- The remaining boards of each row will be kept the same size.
